Transport NAMA Monitor 2016 now available!
The 2016 Transport NAMA Monitor presents the latest trends and developments of transport NAMAs around the world.
In this year’s update, 10 new NAMAs could be added to the Transport NAMA Database covering 53 Transport NAMAs now – even though most of them in an early development stage.
Nationally Appropriate Mitigation Actions (NAMAs) are importantcornerstones for the implementation of the Intended Nationally Determined Contributions (INDCs) which determine the mitigationpaths of the UNFCCC parties as a result of the Paris Agreement. NAMAs provide a framework for governments in developing countries to support the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions.
At the same time, the implementation of transport NAMAs has the potential to combine climate change mitigation with economic growth, poverty eradication and improved quality of life. On top of that, NAMAs are a promising instrument to gain international support and recognition for the transport sector.
