jktbrt.jpgPolicy-makers are facing demands to meet the changing mobility needs of citizens in ways which are economically, socially and environmentally sustainable.

The Sustainable Urban Transport Project (SUTP) Asia is a partnership between the German Technical Cooperation (GTZ), the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA), CITYNET and the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP). It aims to help developing world cities achieve their sustainable transport goals, through the dissemination of information about international experience and targeted work within cities.

TDM training course held in Singapore

Following the 3rd Regional EST Forum held in Singapore during March 17-19 2008, GTZ, CAI-Asia and LTA Academy (supported by UNCRD, and as part of the SUMA project) jointly organized a 2-day training course on Travel Demand Management (TDM) and related measures in Singapore on 19-20 March, 2008. The event was hosted by LTA Academy of Singapore (www.LTAacademy.gov.sg ), and covered various TDM measures such as congestion pricing, parking schemes, fuel pricing, taxes and charges (vehicle ownership and registration management), repricing mobility services, physical restraint measures, land use measures and public transport complementary measures. Main trainers for the course were Mr Michael Replogle and Professors Gopinath Menon and Paul Barter. A full report on the course shall be available soon.
