SUTP delivers training on planning and design for bicycles

Dr. Thirayoot Limanond, was invited to deliver a training on bicycle planning and design in the one-day training course, organized by the Office of Energy Regional 10 (Chiang Mai) on Saturday 17th May 2008. This training course was aimed to address the growing concerns on energy crisis issues, by building capacity of Chiang Mai staff on designing bicycle lanes, bicycle facilities as well as other bicycle programs. The ultimate goal of this training is to promote the use of bicycle usage in the Chiang Mai area.

The training course was hosted in the meeting room of the Chiang Mai provincial office with more than 40 participants from various agencies, including Ministry of Transport, department of highways, department of rural roads, Chiang Mai municipality, and other local governments in Chiang Mai. Dr. Thirayoot Limanond gave a presentation demonstrating how bicycle lanes and other related facilities are successfully implemented in countries where bicycles are the popular mode of transport.
