jktbrt.jpgPolicy-makers are facing demands to meet the changing mobility needs of citizens in ways which are economically, socially and environmentally sustainable.

The Sustainable Urban Transport Project (SUTP) Asia is a partnership between the German Technical Cooperation (GTZ), the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA), CITYNET and the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP). It aims to help developing world cities achieve their sustainable transport goals, through the dissemination of information about international experience and targeted work within cities.

GTZ and CDIA support Cochin in improving urban transportation

cochin-news.jpgGTZ SUTP participated in a Cities Development Initiative for Asia (CDIA) mission to Cochin, India in assisting the Cochin Municipality in developing and improving their urban transportation. The mission consisted of experts from ADB, CDIA and GTZ SUTP/ GTZ ASEM (Mr. Santhosh Kodukula).

The mission was conducted between 18th - 22nd May 2009. During the stay at Cochin the experts met with various stakeholders including the Mayor, Municipal Commissioner, Town Planning authorities, State Road transport officials and other NGO's to discuss regarding the existing scenario and find the scope for conducting a pre-feasibility study.
