Who can help us?
You can. And it's quite simple. By filling in the latest fuel prices - fuel (regular and premium) and diesel fuel - as well as the price of a medium-sized hen's egg, you can contribute to keeping our database up-to-date. Please fill in the data in local currency. The date of your entry will be logged automatically. Basically, everyone is invited to participate. However, we would appreciate it if you could log in the prices as applicable in the capital city of your country. If you are interested in providing us with more diversified data (e.g. for other cities or specific purposes), please send an email to armin.wagner@gtz.de . Your email address is required for verification purposes only. If you are interested in receiving our newsletter on international fuel prices, please tick the relevant box.
What? The data we needWe require the data on regular and premium (95 octan) fuel and diesel prices for our survey on international fuel prices. The price of a medium-sized hen's egg is of great value to us in assessing local purchasing power. All reported prices should reflect "normal" conditions; one-day price spikes or purchases at top-end supermarkets shouldn't find their way into our database. You can check the latest prices in your country by selecting the continent and your country in the drop-down menus above.
Why? The BackgroundDespite the relevance of energy prices for sustainable transport and energy policies, most developing countries do not have the pertinent information on fuel prices at their fingertips. This is mainly due to a lack of statistical data. To meet this need, the Deutsche Gesellschaft fr Technische Zusammenarbeit GmbH - German Technical Cooperation (GTZ) - with its global network of projects in 135 countries, regional offices and representations in 64 developing countries, starting in 1999 has decided to publish a comprehensive database for the global fuel sector.
At the same time, this fuel price survey advocates reviewing the price policies and use of existing fuel energy, a prerequisite if new forms of energy are to be introduced. This publication is intended to serve as an initial impetus to encourage the competent ministries in developing countries to develop their own concepts on how to achieve sustainable medium and long-term fuel price policies. For more information please refer to www.gtz.de/fuelprices.
The survey is financed by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) within the scope of the sector project Transport Policy Advisory Services.
In order to broaden the database and to provide more continuous data series throughout the year we decided to invite the public to participate in our study. Please assist us by completing the form above. For additional questions or comments, please don't hesitate to contact armin.wagner@gtz.de.
