Facing New Mobility Services and Digitization – Our iNUA #7 on Mobility as a Service is now available!
SUTP participates in the implementation of the New Urban Agenda (NUA) by publishing a series of Implementation Guides addressed to politicians and practitioners. We are happy to publish our seventh factsheet on Mobility as a Service.
iNUA #7 dedicates the most promising concept in urban mobility “based on sustainable national urban transport and mobility policies, for sustainable, open and transparent procurement and regulation of transport and mobility service in urban and metropolitan areas, including new technology that enables shared mobility services” (New Urban Agenda #116) - Mobility as a Service (MaaS).
MaaS is the integration of various forms of transport services into a single mobility service accessible on demand. The paper presents the advantages of creating a MaaS ecosystem and the steps necessary to do so. Focussing especially on the role of municipalities as enablers, key issues are presented on how to how to best integrate new mobility services within a municipal transportation system.
In October 2016, country and city representatives agreed on the New Urban Agenda (NUA) in Quito, which forms an ambitious baseline for sustainable urban development until 2030. GIZ-SUTP is contributing to the NUA by publishing a new Factsheet Series. The series addresses mayors and practitioners, outlines strategies that are crucial for realizing the objectives of the NUA and provides practical recommendations on how to progress towards a more sustainable future.
The compact 4-page documents are designed in a way, that mayors and decision-makers can rapidly gain an overview on the rationale and the practicability of the presented tool, measure or strategic approach. This is followed by practical recommendations on how to initiate implementation and further selected sources on the specific issue. iNUA #7 gives an overview how to face new mobility services and digitization in cities with MaaS.
